Pintail question

We had a group of pintails come in and actually worked.
They were coming in on their first pass and the bull flipped completely upside down for about 1 second then flipped back over and they did one more swing.
Never seen or even heard of a pintail flipping???
I didn't know one existed that wanted to be anywhere that bad ! Lol

We always called it "maple leafing/whiffle" and when hunting north west Missouri around Mound City. The snow geese would do it all day long. I can only assume to make a faster decline in a controlled way.
