What would you guys recommend growing under pine trees for lush green plot? Pines 25ft tall ( planting time would be in fall on this spot)
Rye & ?
Thinned pines cleaned up underneath so not much sun light.
I know it's acidic & I'm not crazy about ag liming the crap out of it.
Just curious to see what you guys have had success with.
Thanks

Without liming the hell out of it you're probably wasting your time.

This.

Only thing I've seen done (successfully) with pines is 3rd or 5th row thinning, and then planting those cut rows as long linear food plots. Or thinned and burned and let natural regeneration take place once sunlight is on the ground.

Totally agree, I felt that way as well.
I just wanted verification and making sure there wasn't an old Indian trick I was missing.
Thank ya

If u don't want to put much effort into it use vns rye . It's cheap so if it's fails u won't be out much but don't plant till October

Native forbs and grasses...burn it. Greenbrier, pokeweed, blackberry, ragweed, partridge pea, muscadine and on and on and on. There's more tonnage of highly desirable food during the growing season than you'd ever get planting anything.
