Anyone hunted for pigeons? I hear most farmers are glad to have you come shoot the pests off their barns. I haven't found a place yet with pigeons to ask. I'd love to shoot some, and hear they are really good eating, especially the squabs in the nest. To clarify, I would not eat one from the city. :sick: I would eat one out on a farm however, where they don't eat garbage all day. They don't carry all the diseases that they are known for, all they can carry are a couple including bird flu, which many other birds can carry as well. So to put the misconceptions aside, I'd love to shoot a few for the table and was wondering who else shoots em. If you are in the williamson county area and know of a farm that has em, and the location isn't secret of course, shoot me a PM or something if you think the farmer wouldn't mind or whatever. I got to do some driving I guess, I can spot pigeons in the air from the car while driving so I guess I could find a spot or two just by driving around for a while.
 
i would suspect city birds eat the same as country birds.they hit parks & bird feeders from what i have seen.folks feed them bread n chips ect.. never seen them picking garbage in a dump.i would reckon they taste simular to dove.most will fly several miles daily & even country birds may hit towns some time during the day
 
They eat just like a dove, just a bigger piece of meat. I think they wear vests though, tough to bring down with #8's.
 
Sounds good I just gotta find a place now. I know of one but it's under a bridge right next to a school....in other words out of the question. I have to find a farm that's got a lot of them.
