Back during muzzleloader, I had a piebald buck chase a doe past me. I had never seen him before and didn't have any pictures of him. I could have killed him but chose to let him walk. After talking to some other folks in the area, I found out a guy had pictures of him on another property. I called that guy and talked to him. He said the deer had been on his farm since he was a fawn and had disappeared a week before muzzleloader opened. His farm is about 2 miles from mine, the way the crow flies. He had spoken to most of the surrounding property owners and all had agreed not to kill him. I have now done the same. I have seen him twice on my farm since that initial encounter. Both times from the road. A neighboring property owner saw him while hunting on the last day of muzzleloader and another neighbor said he almost hit him crossing the road in front of my place on opening morning of gun season. I checked a camera today and had some night time pics of him. I sure hope he makes it through the season. I'm hoping he's found a new home area here. He's a very unique deer. It will be interesting to see what he becomes if he makes it.
