Check out this incredible "piebald" blue cat one of my clients caught yesterday. Brittany Sapp has been coming all the way from Pennsylvania to fish with me almost every year since 2013. She boated a pair of trophies, including a 30 lb. blue plus this absolutely beautiful piebald blue cat. These piebald color-phase blue cats have been showing up more and more in the Chattanooga-area recently, but I haven't seen many as pretty as this one. It was a super day with 35 catfish coming in the boat - biggest were the 30-pounder and two 17-pounders (including the piebald). All were caught on the Scenic City Fishing Charters, Inc. trademark "light tackle" technique.

No, while color shaping may shift as they grow, basic color pigment patterns stay the same and we have never seen one like this one. Me and my guide partners (or clients) have actually caught about a dozen in the last four years. We've never caught two that we could definitely say were the same fish. Obviously this rare recessive gene is becoming more prominent in our area. I'll probably be writing an article about that soon.

it would make sense mathematically since most of those fish are released where as other fish are kept to eat. i wonder the probability of those fish passing those traits on to their spawn?
 
The old Hungry Fishermen in metro center had them in their pond that they sold fish chow in the gum ball machines for you to feed the fish. I have seen them in other restaurants with ponds where they let you feed them as well. I have never seen one in the wild.
