I planted the beans around the second week of May and have been pretty happy with the results, especially considering the weather of late. I only planted 1 acre as just somewhat of a trial run this year. Also, all of these pictures were taken today.

For measuring purposes I am about 5'10"

Everything looks good, except for the UT shirt :D :D

Seaton, I would like to know as well if you protected them in any way. I am thinking of planting these next year, but am worried about them wearing it out before it comes up. Do you have a high deer density? Very good looking crop!

I have not had any type of fence around the beans or anything, which I was really worried about but they did pretty well. As far as the deer density, it is fairly low around my particular area, which is pretty obvious by the browse. I would say almost half of the beans have been hit pretty hard though, especially around the edges and right in the center they have eaten a huge section out.
 
What part of the county are you in? I wouldn't thought any part of Hardin county would have had a low enought deer density for one acre of unfenced beans to make it.
 
I still have quite a few deer but not near the population of some of the more rural areas. My place tends to not hold as many deer in the summer months as well, plus there is a large soybean field planted close by that has pulled some deer away I'm sure.
