on the wings of a snow white dove
in our close knit group of dove hunters, 2 of the hunters have dogs and 5 do not, anyways there is one hunter that if he knocks down a dove and does not pick it up its counted towards his limit, on the other hand if my Lab "Bunk" does not bring the dove back to me then I do not count the bird towards my limit. I want it to be know that my lab Bunk picks up over 99% of the birds that I knock down

is there a right or wrong in the above situation?

You are required to make a reasonable attempt to find every bird you shoot. You can't just shoot and let them lay.

The ethical thing to do is if you know you killed the bird is to count it towards your limit.
