He likes the video capability and he keeps trying to sell me his so he can buy the newer version. Last year was my first year running the new cameras and they worked great. Sadly, it was the first year I didn't get anything that tweaked my interest on video. If you contact him he might actually work out a deal on his camera. Just tell him I got another one and how great the videos are. You might can push him over the edge, lol.
 
Mike, can you get both pics & video simultaneously with those new Reconyx cams? I really enjoy watching the videos, but the detail of a higher resolution pic is often more useful for my purposes. Both would be ideal, such as the cam taking pics, immediately followed by video from the same triggering event.
 
Wes...You can take a video up to 30 seconds followed by pictures. I really like the videos. The resolution is great as is the sound but I like the pics, too. I usually set mine to alternate between video and a 3 picture mode and get the best of both worlds and it doesn't use as much space as pure video.

Mike, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying that on one triggering, the cam will take 3 pics (but no video), then the next time it triggers (which could be the next day), it will take a pure video (but no pics)?

More and more, I'm really "appreciating" the sound aspect of video, and sometimes, certain things stand out that wouldn't on a still pic. The below was posted on the turkey forum, but if turn your sound up, you can hear lots of things, including those baby chicks chirping and a pileated woodpecker very close by. Also, had this been a still pic rather than video, those baby chicks might have been overlooked, not seen at all.

To me, the best of both worlds might be to get a high-resolution still pic immediately followed by the video clip from the same single triggering event.

As long as my target stays in front of the camera I'll continue to get 3-5 pics and then up to a 30 second video or visa versa dependent on the interval I have it set on.

I also like the audio. It's neat to hear the deer walking around or crunching on acorns.

I did this exact thing yesterday. I called him and taunted him with the fact you now owned two of them and that you would rack up LOTS of awesome videos "with audio" of big bucks fighting this fall...LOL. He laughed and said he would "think about it" and get back with me if he decided to sell his HC 600. I am stirring the pot best I can Mike, you know I am... :stir: :D
 
LOL at Andy. You know it's a great camera when it makes you displeased with the great camera you already have.

Have you heard anything about summer shooting the deer at Ames?
