Taking Forum members advice, I went to the TN Classic on Friday to bow shop. What a selection!! Ended up with a beautiful Bear Kodiak Magnum, 1973-1975.
I've been out of traditional bows, so am starting over and needing some arrows.
Founds lots of info on shafts (even carbon fiber for recurve use).

Just looking to shoot for fun, so what is recommended?

good bow.
first, tuning a stick is different than a compound. I tried to tune my first recurve like a compound and got frustrated FAST.
If your current arrows are long enough, try them. you may need to change point weight.
my advise is to start with a 500 spine shaft, full length. you may have to load the front with heavier point weight if you start with carbon. I use 175gr on mine.
from there, it's one step at a time.

Congrats on the new bow, I shoot 400 carbons out of my bear take down , 51/52 lbs at 30 inch draw fronts are loaded up with 65 got inserts and 145/150 gr points. I have tried aluminum and carbon, I like the durability of the carbon but the aluminum are pretty sweet as well. Hope to try cedar some day. I think we are in the same area, I'd be happy to let you borrow a few arrows to test. Trial and error can be expensive, don't ask how I know lol
