IDk usually persimmons drop early and that's it for me .

my tree usually finishes sometime around the end of Oct.
it is a volunteer tree on the edge of my garden near the highway... the deer wear them out.... (at night)
i would like to plant one near my food plot.....been watching for a sprout that i could dig up and transplant but haven't seen anything yet......
 
I really don't know how to categorize persimmons as a food source. Almost every place I've hunted in the past has had them and I've seen over and over where they have fed on them but only once in 40 years of hunting have I seen deer unequivocally drawn specifically to them. That was a location where any food source was at a premium. Otherwise, all I've seen them do is randomly feed on them in their travels. I've seen deer feed on horse apples and locust pods as much or more than persimmons.

IDK it's like Krispy Kream When the red light is on at my place .

It's like it's the first time and only time they have had that taste and damn if they ain't going to get some while their hot!

I have a big persimmon tree on the edge of one of my food plots that drops late September through October. I will watch the deer feed in the food plot and then move to the persimmon tree and feed under it for 5-10 minutes and then move on. It is like clockwork watching the deer hit the plot and then the persimmons. I have 40+ persimmon trees on the property but I see them only under a handful of them.
 
I found a place last year close to one of my parking places, the week before opening day that I must have walked by a hundred times going to other places. About 7 or 8 small trees in a group over about a 20 yd stretch. I put a camera on one of them. I hunted that next Saturday at one of my usual spots and checked that camera during lunch. Good grief at the daylight pics. Everyday morning and afternoon. Killed a big doe, missed a doe, and saw 4 different small bucks. A few weeks later had a cool encounter with a nice shooter but never got a shot.
 
I checked my Persimmons today...... they are very green here....I have never put a camera on my tree but i think i will this year just to see how much activity there actually is.... i know there are lots of tracks around it when they start dropping .....however because of the location of the tree they usually get them at night....
