Persimmons falling

I was on my property the other day and noticed hundreds of immature persimmons all on the ground under a few trees. Is it normal for alot of trees to drop there crop early?

most likely it is just Mother Nature adjusting itself. The tree may have been overly pollinated and extra productive for especially if it's a younger tree and it's just shedding some weight.

Other factors-just wondering....did any of these trees get flooded and have to sit in standing water?

Nope, they were never flooded and we have been getting good weather. I'm not sure they ever produced being this is only my 2nd year owning the place. It just stinks to see all those persimmons on the ground.

Not good...maybe they didn't get enough water and caused them to drop early. Is there any left on the tree? Were all the ones that dropped green?

Bingo, we have a winner. Many trees during times of high stress, such as what we have been going through this summer with high heat/no rain, will drop their fruits/nuts as part of a defense mechanism. My persimmons here at the house have all but dropped and so has my black walnut. Nothing to worry about yet, it is mother nature at work.

They are loaded this year,along with Apple trees.

I see in one orchard the farmer had the branches propped
up with 2by 4's

Signs of a long hard Winter.. up here the Blueberry bushs are loaded and ready to pick..and this is EARLY!! I have never picked them till middle of Aug at the earliest..

I was thinking that may be a possibility but my place only went about a week and a half without rain. Also the trees in the bottoms by the creeks were it stays moist dropped them all. I guess thats mother nature for you.

Now that ya'll are talkin about it the hickory trre next to the house here has dropped a bunch of little hickory nuts, I bet the heat and lack of rain is the cause.

Yep, nuts dropping everywhere due to dry and also a large crop of hard mast and soft mast.
