I have about 6 acre field on my property. This past year I have cleared it of all trees except persimmon and walnut (I think there are 4 walnut). Quite a few persimmon trees spread throughout the field. I have only seen them produce fruit about 4 times in the 12 or so years I have been hunting. Its been about 4 years since the last time. Any idea why they don't produce very often?

How many years after planting them before you all expect fruit?

I planted a bunch of seedlings in 2011. Most of them were out of the tubes that year. I need to cage them. But they seem to be years away from fruit. I do have 2 years that I planted in 2003. One of them is about 8'. The other is smaller. No fruit on either.

We have a lone japanese persimmon that produces literally thousands of persimmons and the deer tear them up.....but not until late January when they drop. The grey fox start climbing the tree and eating them in November.
 
I have seen limited fruit on wilds ones that are only about 8' - 10' tall. They were in an area that received a lot of light and moisture.
 
Plenty of persimmons on my lease and I have noticed they are growing in a pattern or maybe someone in years past planted them. They are all producing fruit, including th ones that don't get enough sunlight, are what I would call spindly. I'll get a pic next time I am on the place.

Must be pollination.
