Permanent predator shelter for rabbits

I know most people just throw down and stack larger sticks of wood and then stack the smaller stuff on top but I thought I would try something different. This is something I did for long term rabbits supply and maybe when I retire in about 20 years I will still have some rabbits to eat. I know many of you wouldnt want to make something like this on a large scale but Im posting it rather because it might give someone a better idea for theyre application.
I have only two of these piles for now on a slight hillside slope. I took a 10' pvc pipe (4" diam) and cut it four times (2.5' each) and then placed them in the blocks. I then put the fence post where they will hold the pvc in place and wont slide down and out. I put some wire around the top with the one side open to throw the smaller branches in and the wire is upside down with the larger hole openings toward the bottom so a rabbit will still be able to escape should it be up there and the upper smaller wire sections will be better for holding and supporting honey suckle and/or blackberries. I would like to think that in years to come I will have a nice branch pile to continually throw branches on and still have a nice permanent core in the center. After transplanting several honey suckle and blackberries to these locations then I was thinking that the fence post will help in locating the blocks when it might become necessary to bushhog close to the pile.

I forgot to mention but as you can see in the picture there are two different sizes of blocks on both piles. There are both 8 and 12 inch blocks. I just used what I had behind my shed rather than buying any but I just wanted to state that for my application and any further future piles made from me will be done with the 12 inch block only as I believe they serve the purpose greater for me and the silly wabbit :D but most certainly not necessary.

Thanks for the comments. I had a chance to put on much more brush of both large and small and I believe Im done with both piles for awhile and Ill let mother nature take her course from here. You cant see it in the pictures but down over to the left and up to the right of the cedar tree line is a lot of clover. In time as these two piles start to settle down and deteriorate into a smaller pile I guess I will add more when it becomes appropriate.

Very good idea and it works, unless you are hunting and they go in there. :D
