Perfect tree, perfect wind, perfect travel corridor in a timbered hills laying between a 5 year old cutover and a 1; year old pine planting . First time here in 2 years. I'be seen good bucks here in the past . We'll see....
 
Good luck today should be a special day to be in the woods. I seen two bucks yesterday mourning one at 6:30 and the other at 8. From 11am- til dark somebody flipped the switch on. Crazy movement!!!

Almost perfect.... Right after sunrise I had a doe come through with 3 bucks following; the biggest a 122-124" 8 pointer. Right after that 2 does and a fawn. Right after that and 400 yards or less away they cranked up the logging equipment. After an hour of listening to the bells and whistles and cranking and clanking I'd had enough and climbed down. I think I'm suffering from the red headed stepchild syndrome. I'm already back home before I'd even planned on climbing down. Maybe next trip...

Make it 200 yards and all day instead of an hour, and you've just imagined my group's 2016 President's Island buck hunt experience. :tu:

Did you know the logging was going to happen there before you went hunting?
 
"Expletive! Expletive! No!" I knew they had been thinning some pines off and on but didn't know exactly where they were or if they were still working. I didn't think it'd be there or I'd have been somewhere else. The hollow I was hunting runs east and west. They were on the east end. I was in the middle. The bottom I sometimes hunt is across a ditch at the west end. Next trip back there I'll hunt the bottom. I did find 3 big fresh scrapes on the way out.
 
Mike, i got to thinking about the logging. Do they log in the spring/summer time? Or is it always tied into the fall hunting season? It seems like they could work around us a little don't you think!
