This is my first year hunting in Tn. I have been scouting the whole summer and found some pretty good spots. I haven't seen much sign of other hunters. Which I thought was kind of strange being this close to town. Does anyone know if the north end of the wma gets much hunting pressure ?

I have hunted virtually a significant portion of Priest and the North and East sides of the lake get the largest amount of pressure as a whole because of the proximity to people and ease of access in most cases. There are pockets in there that may see a lighter amount of pressure, but as a whole, the two sides get hammered pretty good�especially once muzzleloader starts. Find and area that is a good piece away from vehicle access, or get a boat, and you very well might have the place to yourself�except for neighbors walking dogs, hiking and/or kids playing in the woods.

Explain pretty good spot.. Persimmon.. Trail.. Rubs? Like Tndeerguy said most spots get hammered. once the season opens you will see vehicles parked all over or they will come in by boat.

Priest is loaded with deer, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. However, as Poser and trealtree very correctly stated�areas that have direct parking by car will be hammered. Your best bet is to find areas that are not easily accesible by foot, hence areas that require more than a 15-minute walk to get to�most public land hunters are fairly lazy. If you have access to a boat, that will open areas up to you that get little if any pressure and greatly increases your chance to kill a very nice deer. The southeastern part of the lake gets the smallest amount of pressure by foot, from what I have seen, and it offers the largest tracts of land.

I normally hunt it once or twice a year since I live right here at it but as already stated get away from the obvious areas. Let several walk but decided to pull the trigger last year on one in an area we accessed by boat.

yeah seems to be a trend on that end of the lake. locals seem to think they own the land. Good area to hunt, but I just assume stay down south near where i live.

Yep...as I do every year. :) Beware of the no parking signs�many of them are placed there illegally and are a violation of Federal Law�I have fought this battle on several parts of the Lake.

Probably a violation of metro law also. I am pretty sure the placement of a no parking sign in metro nashville has to go through the traffic and parking commission and be voted on. 99% of the signs that are up are in areas that have zero impact on traffic flow if you park off the road.

As trealtree already knows, as he has helped me with one of the battles, Metro Nashville will break federal laws when placing "no parking" signs (that is to what I was referring to) that restrict access to the Lake/WMA, so keep that in mind also.
