Peletized vs powdered lime

All I can seem to find is peletized lime. Though, it is at the ready and they can spread it when I would like. I know it takes twice as long for it to take effect as opposed to powdered lime, but that might be the best we can do at this time.

Does anyone know of any CONS to peletized lime? All we have ever used in the past is powdered lime. Is the peletized just as efficient?

Pelletized lime does not take twice as long to work. It actually works faster but doesn't last as long. Pelleted is good for a quick fix. I would not expect much more than 1 year out of it. It can be expensive, to expensive to use for the main liming. Any rock quarry should have powdered lime. I just had 100 tons spread yesterday. It is best to put powered lime down in the fall for spring crops because it will take a few months to get the full benefit. The problem may be getting someone to spread it due to how busy they are with fertilizer.

You can probably rent a "wagon" through your local co-op. Thats what we do. We send off our soil sample, take it back to the co-op and they will load it up with however much lime and fertilizer I need. All i have to do is take it to my plot spread and return when I'm finished. Cheapest way to go to, well it is for me anyway. This way you can use bulk powdered or peletized. I go with powdered.
