Planted two last year that are doing well. Before you plant do your research you need two types for cross polination. Several folks in this area have trees that bear fruit.

My dad planted 2 pecan trees in 1980 in his front yard (Wilson co). I started killing 30 -40 squirrels per year out of them starting in 2005. We get plenty of pecans every year. 25 years is a long time to wait on some nuts... :)

i planted 2 paper shell pecans in my yard 6 years ago that where about 2 feet tall when i planted them they are about 20 feet tall now and have been making pecans for about 3 years now. west Tn.

I planted some about 20 years ago in knoxville.. They survived and did well..too well for the lot I had them on and one got cut down by the new home owners....

To my knowledge they are still doing well. Trees are on Wickersham Drive in Knoxville if your ever over that way. Should be two left.

BTW my parents have had two in southern VA for over 50 years and they produce pecans every year.

There are several around a lot I own in Athens. They have produced every year I can remember but the nuts are not as big as some I have seen. I don't know if it is the type of tree or if that is as big as they will get no matter what type they are.
