Planning on planting some the next few weeks- what kinds seem to do good and do the deer really like pears?

I put out 2 dozen pears on my foodplots edge, and they was gone overnight. Made a believer out of me.

I have a few bartletts so I can enjoy them straight off the tree also, but Keifer is good for the deer too

we have a pear tree on our farm, they never hit the ground. the deer absolutely love them!

You want several varieties so your deer will have pears for several months. Moonglow and Ayers(Sugar) pears for Augustish. Bartlett for Septemberish. Kieffer for Octoberish even into November in some cases. Lots of good varities out there but those are some of my favorite. Pears are much easier to grow than apples.

Lowe's has Bartlett pear trees (six or seven feet tall) on sale half price- 11 bucks! How long on average would it take for trees to produce pears?

There are a few websites where you can buy a variety of pear trees to last into the season. Look at Jeane Farms on the internet. Their website is deerpear.com i believe.
