Ihave several that look like this.Should i go ahead a prune off one of these.Seems like they will eventually split.In winter I guess.

Sorry I have been in Canada for awhile on honeymoon. I dont do much pruning with pears personally but yes you could prune to a central leader and use a heavy long stake to bring that central leader in line. Its personal preference and some things work better for others
