Does anyone keep records of your red/white oaks? The period they traditionally drop, say from Aug. 20-Sept. 28 or whatever? I know winds/weather play a factor too, just wondering how many other weirdos like me their are? :)
I also keep track of persimmons, but in the last few years all of the trees have been so loaded I don't pay that much attention to any particular one.

Mountain Chestnut generally peak in drop the last two weeks of September. White oak drop usually peaks about Oct. 10. However, I've found reds/blacks drop over all a long period of time, usually late September into early November.

I figured you would keep track of stuff like this. In the areas I hunt there are no sources of agriculture for miles, so acorn producing trees are what I try to hunt around. One area I hunt has virtually no white oaks so the hunting is usually good every other year. It also seems my plots get destroyed on those off years too. :)

In poor acorn years, and we get those about 2 out of every 5 years in my area, we simply can't grow enough food plots to keep up with the feeding pressure. They are all down to dirt by mid-November.

Is this one of those years, BSK???

I don't think it will be in my area CAMARO12. I would give my acorn crop a 3 or 4 out of 10. About half the trees are carrying a few, and about 1 out of 10 or 20 is loaded. However, I do think this is going to be one of those years (in my area) where by November, deer will have to move quite a bit to find acorns. And that's a good thing!
