Call me a softie, but I passed on a doe tonight who had a fawn prancing around delightfully behind her. I was on the ground, under a big hemlock with draping limbs in a small field, and they passed, as expected, 15 yards away. Had the red dots right on the mama, but couldn't do it. Too many stories I've heard of guys having to run off fawns after killing a doe.

It actually felt good in a way. That's the first deer I've ever passed on, and with more experience I'm becoming a more selective hunter.

Yep, I have done that twice so far this season, and passed on a little button buck as well. It's hard to pass up a good shot, but like you said, you kinda feel good about it after its all behind you.

Good job!

I shoot any doe I want when I feel like it. By the time bow season arries, fawns are fully equipped to survive. Maybe I have a hard heart, but it doesnt bother me at all

yep i pass on does if they have fawns during bow season. but during muzl after they lose therer spots its harder for me to tell if it is a fawn or a last years fawn so i shoot if i get the chance
