I am in the pass camp on this one. Pulled the card today after being out about 2 weeks and had 528 pictures. Knowing bigger and better hang in this area and with a 1 buck limit he gets a pass. 40 lb Big & J block gone. Jump 3 more deer walking the 50 yards from my truck to the camera.

I would want longer tine length. For me he is a normal 10 point for this spot. I would say a 2 1/2 year old.

though not much to go on, I suspect he is 3.5 based on the neck.

If I was bow hunting I would never think twice, if I have a gun in my hand I still might shoot. If you are willing to pass, he definitely will get bigger if he lives.

As you know, it's all in the eye of the beholder. Nothing wrong with either choice

I'd look him over real good Ben, that deep neck makes me tend to say he's min 3-1/2(1st pic, deer on the left). Mature buck at least. Wish I had your dilemma :D
 
:D yep, after scrolling on down and seeing the other pics I'd back up and say 2-1/2 now as well...but I still might shoot. ;)

It may not be the same deer. The first is a 10 for sure the second looks to be a 8 to me. My problem is I know there are larger over in the state park that will come out during rut. If I can keep this spot going no doubt one or more will show after the doe's then. FWIW all legal in Ky to bait with anything you want. But you very seldom see the big boys until that magic time of the year. Not one to worry about filling a tag, if a good one shows I will but not one to say I will just to kill a buck. My food bank program shut down I donated to for so many years so the girls are safe. I just anymore get a kick out of getting their pictures either with handheld or trail cameras.
 
I can see both arguments. All good points. I have shot a couple ten points but as in the post above I just don't see enough of them to give that deer a pass. If I was fortunate to have a spot as stated I can fully understand waiting. I think the second deer is a different deer. The first on the left looks like a ten and the second an 8. But you are definitely fortunate to have a spot like that and a good problem to have
 
If you can get more pics of the 10, and see how full his neck and body look that would help a lot. I can't say for sure how old he looks.
 
Looks like a different buck to me just my opinion, I think I'd let them walk, maybe shoot the 10. He looks a little older to me but tough to see from the pictures

There is no way that 10 point is a 2 year old deer. He's 3 or older without a doubt. The neck and chest development is way beyond anything a 2 year old could manage. I'd shoot him without hesitation if he had half his rack broke off just because of his size but then I don't get very excited over racks.

The big question is knowing there are larger ones rack and body wise in that area would you still shoot him being under a 1 buck per year limit ? If old age has not got to him I had a B&C buck in that area a couple years ago that I just couldn't pull the shot off due to stuff in the way that covered near all his body. That cedar tree is no longer there... :lol: The chance of a 5 year old or older is always on my mind hunting this spot.
 
He is at least a 3.5 yr old with a neck that size. I have shot a lot of 2.5 yr olds through the years, and I have never seen one with a neck that size. He would get a pass from me, but any of my kids would shoot him. And I suspect most hunters would use a tag on a nice 10 pt. like him. Good luck with the larger bucks that you have your eye on.
 
The first buck (9 or 10 pt) is mature and around 130in. The 2nd buck (?8 pt) is 2.5 or 3.5 115in.

Whether to shoot either and end your KY season is up to you.

I'm in the same boat by choice (personal limit of 1 buck). If I had other higher scoring mature bucks on camera, no way I'd shoot that 9 or 10pt. No way I'd shoot the second one even if we had a 10 buck limit.

But it's your season and your tag. I'd rather eat my tag than shoot any buck I'm not ecstatic to kill. You are the only one that can make that decision, and dont need encouragement to shoot or pass.
