Parker Cyclone xbow blew up this morning

This morning I had my nicest buck come through slowly behind me on the side of the hill at 8:10 AM. I was on him almost at eye level at 32 yds, squeezed the trigger and blam, I had a pile of mess in my hands. The left limb was split all the way up in two places, tearing the cam out, with alot of delamination. I thought I heard a small click after I settled in to the stand before shooting light and looked the xbow over after shooting light but didn't notice anything.

I'm almost 60, have killed alot of dear in my lifetime, this would have been my best. I saw him at about 125 yrds away, had plenty of time to prepare for the shot, trying to not get rattled by the size of his rack.

I'm still about sick......
 
On the crossbownation Parker forum customers been having difficulty (even dealers)with Parker customer service not returning calls, emails, or even answering the phone.

Bummer, had the same thing happen to me several years ago with a compund Xbow, I won't mention the brand because I know it will get some people upset. I switched to Excliber some years back and can litterly rebuild one in 5 minutes out in the field. I know that doesn't help matters, so sorry, you'll get-em next time.
 
I was hunting in ohio a couple of years ago and ran into three diffrent hunters who had had this happen to them. I have never hunted with a crossbow but My son is wanting one. What causes them to blow up?
 
The same thing that causes some compounds to blow up-faulty material in a limb or faulty material pulling the string. It is either equipment or human error. I doubt that crossbows blow up any more than compounds.

In all my years of shooting compounds, I have only had two blow up. I have never had a crossbow blow up...yet.

that what happens when you bring a bow to a gunfight. jk, glad u werent hurt
 
i would have to say they blow up 90% of time due to the fact the nock is not seated all the way up to the string, this i no for a fact iv done it myself, and its no fun when it happens , sorry to hear it happen to you with a boomer in your sites..
 
A crossbows limbs stay loaded for way longer periods than a compound and fatigue over time until something lets go. I know, the limbs are probably supposed to be engineered to counteract this but obviously they don't always.
 
The nock was fully seated to the string. This is my 3rd season with it. Right after I purchased it Parker came out with the capture nock, replacing the half moon, and I immediately switched to it to forgo any additional problems.
I purchased the xbow immediately after my Mathews compound blew up on me while shooting in my backyard a couple of weeks before season started (27 months ago)....the string broke. That was an experience I'd hoped never to have again...bruised stomach, cut on face, and I was getting tiny carbon slivers (from the arrow) out of my finger for almost 2 months. No injury on this one...

I found this out the hard way too. Broke 2 strings a week before season before realizing the new arrows i was using the nocks were turned the wrong way and weren't going up against the string right!
