My wife informed me earlier today that she is buying me a 5 day muzzle loader hunt for Christmas and the hunt is begins next Saturday. Does anyone know what kind of deer are in that area and was told by outfitter that the 2nd phase of the rut should be popping off around that time. Any insight on what to expect :super: :super:

Is it with DeerHaven? REAL big deer in that part of the state.

Not sure exactly where your hunting, but I moved to Paducah 4 years ago. I am able to hunt a pretty good spot on the southwest corner of the county. I used to live in the Dickson county area in Tenn. Having said that, the deer are pretty much gonna be about the same. There really isn't much difference at all. There might be a few spots here and there, but for those super big Kentucky deer, it's mainly central, and west central KY. I don't think you'll notice any difference, unless your hunting a high fence operation..... As far as that 2nd rut, again not sure where ur hunting, but that should be long gone by then. Generally, in this area, the second rut usually kicks off around the 8th or so. Do you have an outfitter name? I might know them. Good luck!!

Sorry just now saw your dates in your original post, yes the second rut will be in full swing during muzzle.Sorry about that!
