Anyone have any experience with the ozonics scent elimination units? Always wondered if they worked but not willing to buy one to find out. May consider if they seem to work.

I have one, used it two seasons, HR300. I won't go hunting without it. Have seen more deer with it. I hunt now 360 and not just the wind. Seen a few benefits,
1) making your clothes/breathe scent free realtime. Even though I wash my clothes, I think my breathe gives off an odor. If you sweat in the morning walking in, I feel better that my scent is washed away. 2) I noticed I haven't gotten deer busted/honked since I got my unit. Except one time, where after muzzleloader shot on deer, another deer honked for ten minutes, wind changed a bit and scent led to this deer. 3) you end up paying attention to wind more, the wind will change on me every 20 minutes, so I will swing the unit one direction and back to mask my scent. 4) deer act weird when they come in from down wind. They will pause, smell the air, walk very slow, pause, smell the air, which is great for getting a shot on the deer, much better then bolting or honking. 5) will hang unit on a mesh bag and walk in woods with it turned on to cover my scent. *Never had a deer follow my scent trail but never got busted either*. 6) will dryzone the car to make it scent free and will keep the unit on pointing at my feet while driving. This unit is part of my scent free strategy, wash clothes, shower before hunt, commercial ozone clothes.
Disclaimer, since I use the commercial ozone unit which is allot stronger, ozone won't kill musky odor on clothes..need to rewash them. Ozone won't get rid of a totally strong odor, so I would not go from the gym to woods. Ozone is bad for your lungs, so, if you start coughing, you breathed in too much. In no wind, in tree stand 20 feet up, unit will protect 10 feet wide and say 15 feet long of space. Once you add wind, you get more protection but more odor is picked up as well.. I think after 15+mph, the unit is less effective but still better than nothing.

Appreciate you outlining so well. Sounds like it may be affective. Does give me pause to try one and see how it works. Thanks for sharing.

Agree on swirling wind.. like last weekend for me... wind changing direction too much. I justed picked one direction and stuck with it. Comment on swirling wind, had a deer pop up on me back to car, I was sweating bad, making tons of noise looking for another shot deer in swirling wind. Didn't have unit on , figured it won't help area. Deer popped up when I got 5-10 yards away. So, I'm thinking with swirling winds our scent isn't as strong as in one direction so deer are not totally spooked. I always thought swirling wind means our scent is spread all over the place and every deer 360 knows we are here so hunt sucks that day. However, based on what I saw, I think they get a light version of our scent so not as spooked. This said, seen more deer when wind was in one direction more, probably due to unit providing more protection.
Is there a noticeable difference in units? Noted a few different model #'s but not sure which unit is best for the price.

I have the 300 unit. It definitely helps.
I hunt a smaller lease with only so many stand options so truly playing the wind would mean sitting home or continually hunting the same stand. Neither option is too good.
Only time I've been busted over the last 3 years - when in a stand - is once being seen moving and twice with a swirling wind. And I never saw either - just heard em blow.
I've had deer - does and bucks -cross downwind, walk straight to me from downwind, feed for extended period of time down wind, etc.
Best proof I had was watching a nice 3.5 yr 8 pt approach from downwind to within easy bow range and never act nervous UNTIL he crossed my travel path. He stopped dead, turned and walked back - down wind from me. Never alerting again.

I agree with a lot of what's been said, and I store all my hunting gear in a ozone closet. The thing I didn't realize before I bought all this stuff is that ozone has a very distinct and strong odor. I have seen deer act confused by the smell like other above had said. I just use caution now because I don't want the deer to start associating that smell with me. In my opinion, ozone is best used to sterilize your clothes and gear of bacteria and other microbials that produce odors. I do not blast it out into the woods from my stand, but to each his own. Their are serious health concerns with breathing ozone. I do blast my truck, but not when I'm in it. And I air it out before I drive. I hope that helps.
