Overseeding clover?

What do ya'll do?Last year is just overseeded,did ok,think this year I will pull the disc thru lightly,get some dirt exposed.What cha think?Talking about adding oats.

Got 5 or 6 to do like that as well. This year I am going to adjust the "gang's" so that my disk's are running with no angle. That way it should just cut enough to overseed without turning over a bunch of clover.

As tellico4x4 mentioned, adjust the gangs of a disk so they have just a little bit of angle on them, enough to turn up a little soil but not uproot all of the existing clover.

Or drill it in.

I just overseed. Do the same thing with wheat every year in my clover plots, just throw it in, and do fine. I actually did entire wheat, rape, turnip, AWP, and crimson clover plots last year without disturbing the soil and had great results. Now those fields have much less weed problems than those that were disked.I just mowed, sprayed and threw the seed to them.

When I mooched FH disc I just lightly went over plots and broadcasted. Germination was a little better then when I just broadcasted.

This will certainly work. For years I planted all my food plots using this technique. However, breaking the ground even a little will increase germination rates.

I have some small plots with well established Durana clover(thick as a carpet). I'm planing to very lightly disk after broadcasting oats and wheat. Mistakes I've made with this were just broadcasting wheat into the thick Durana, getting almost zero germination, and over doing the disking last September (hot and dry) and killing lots of the clover.

Or do this....this drag harrow which TSC sells is the best implement i have owned. you can just throw out your seed on top of the soil and make a few rounds with this, not only does it beat down the taller weeds it helps lightly expose the clover seeds to soil and without killing the allready growing clover it helps the seed that is there re-germinate from the plant when you knock it off the blooms and does an outstanding job for the fall planting! wouldnt be without one!

Be picky on the ones you buy, this one comes where it is a engeneering genius in design....you can pull it one direction and the spikes are at a low angle, opposite direction and they stand almost straigt up, or upside down where you get a smoothing effect or in combination of one piece one way and the second another way. this isnt just a piece of metal but rather an ingenious design giving you the most in benefit.
