Our hunt Saturday

Kinda odd really.
We got there JUST in time to get set up by shooting time.
As we got to where we planned to set up there were about 25 geese and at least that many teal that got up.
We threw out a few decoys and got set up.
The geese never came back.
The teal came back but would only get up when the bald eagle swooped at them or if we shot.

I would have figured they would have left, fed and then came back.
We wiffed on a single, got crapped on by a pair and then finally killed 1 out of a group of 4 woodies that came in.
Beautiful morning and had a great time, but I just found it odd that they hightailed it out of there and never came back.

I sat it out this weekend, but from what I heard, the birds were oddly spooky this weekend. Flared when you would figure they're still too dumb.

Otters man, its the otters. We saw probably 40 to 50 birds saturday morning and never saw a single juvenile. We saw 2 birds on sunday and none on monday. There were otters all over the river we were hunting. We have been hunting the same river for over 20 years and were all but guaranteed limits the first 2 days of the season. A good trapper could probably take at least a dozen otters and not wipe them out..
