Was sitting on a steep ridge one morning and had some turkeys coming my way. Was soft calling and everything went quiet. No turkeys answering me or any kind of sound. After a couple minutes I felt something staring at me so I slowly turned around to look up the ridge and a bobcat was about twenty yards above me and from me. He was just staring at me silently not moving at all. We stared at each other for a few minutes and I eventually reached down to get my phone to video. When I did his posture changed and he went in to another mode I didn't like. So I set my phone down and just watched him for a while. He eventually just calmly walked away.

Also, I don't think I called it in but I was sitting on the edge of a powerline early one morning and I was calling when I heard something coming up behind me moving at a descent pace. I decided not to turn around and look but about that time a 350-400 lb black bear come busting out of the woods right beside me half running. It didn't really pay me much attention and moved on. Definitely wasn't expecting that but it was cool to see ( in rhea county).

Bobcat should run through turkey season! Always call in three or four a season
I was hunting Osceolas last year in Florida. I had oysters the night before and had a cramp about daylight. I took care of business just inside the orange trees. It wasn't long I heard something slipping up on me. I turned around and a hog weighing probably 300 pounds saw me about the time I saw him. I've never seen a hog run that fast! They can cover some ground!

Coyotes and Bobcats, they can get right up on ya sometimes before you know it- always pisses me off too.

Coyote and bobcat. Was hunting years ago with a buddy and I was sitting on the edge of a field and he was behind me 10 yards or so calling. Next thing I know he yells and I spin around to see a bobcat hauling butt out of there. He said it came in and then crouched down, went in sneak mode and then started to pounce on him. He yelled and stood up and it turned and took off. The pine needles where the cat kicked them up were a few feet from him.

Dog and a coyote.
I know a guy that his grandpa had a bobcat slip up behind him and jump on him. It cut his ear bad but got out of there as soon as it realized that it hadn't pounced on a turkey.
The only thing I've ever had come in was a coon. It may have been a coincidence, but it came in looking.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard. I'd just kill and not mention anything. I've killed em in other states turkey hunting. They are a big time predator to turkeys so kill em all

Good friend of mine fil in FL had a bobcat jump right on top of his head a few years ago. Scratched him up on head & face pretty bad. 70+ yrs old and hunting on his own property.

The law of not being able to kill them year round is. Not you passing them up just wanting justification for why it's not a year round season here in Tennessee. It's like how coon season was.

Completely agree, should be like coyotes, i hate to let em walk off , but i do my best to stay within the regs.
scariest Ive had is skunks that get up on you to close and then you are scared to move incase they freak out and spray you lol.
I think a self defense issue is reasonable here.

Bobcat in SC, Coyotes everywhere, one lil red fox curled up against me in TN, skunks (multiple times)TN, and two bear that evidently figured out where eggs came from and I had to repeatedly run them off my decoys in TN. Oh, and an eagle took a close look at my Primos call a while back.

Over the years back home in FL, I have called in several "cubans", including 3 more last week. Pretty good beards on most of them.

I was hunting in Ma. Years ago . Leaned out from the tree to pick up my call and a hawk flew down and raked the back of my neck up over the top of my head . Thankfully i had a full head covering on . I was bloody but it could have been much worse . You never know .

That's why I bring a sling shot. Those stupid cows get too close for comfort. Especially a bull
Haven't really done much turkey hunting, really not very good at calling, but have called in coyotes and also some dogs.
Guarantee you that Mr Billy would have taken care of it if it hadn't ran off. He killed a gator one time that had bitten one of his grandsons while swimming. Who knows if he got the right one or not, but when Game & Fish came to his house to charge him they sure didn't stay long!
Very interesting old man (90s now) that grew up "popping" wild cows out of the swamps down there. When they sold the farm & moved to town a few years ago, he still had some of the old Spanish stock of short legged type of horses bred to chase cows in swamps.

I used to turkey hunt in a rather large pature and there was a jack and jenny mule runnin loose. They would come hunt me down and go squish my decoys with their noses. They would just look over at me and give me head nod and then walk off . Kind of comical i reckon
