Well so I grabbed by ultra light gear with 8lb test and fished right below the dam this afternoon.....When all the sudden the horn rang. Didnt know tva was supposed to generate today, but I think they ran 1/3 gen for 40 or so mins. enough for the water to move slowly. caught 38 white bass, 6 small stripers 2 skips, 8 average bows, 2 brooks, and 4 browns...the last brown took my only lure(Kast Away) and called it a day. the orifice is helping but also did the 1/3 gen. :D

So I'm understanding now that there never is NO flow, that the river always has a constant stage now?....hmmmmm....

....interesting.

Can you tell when they are running the orifice only?

Yes, the tubes are installed on the sluice side of the dam (cliff) you can see the boils flowing constantly behind the breaker bar. but when they generated at around 2pm it was not a full one gen, more like quarter of one gen. Just enough to activate the feeding frenzie.
Cant wait until they fully open the sluice gates later this summer!
