Was blessed to be able and get it done in Oregon too. This is a true Columbia blacktail, killed with an over-the-counter tag on pressured public land, in the rough mountainous ranges of Oregon. He scores 116", which is the equivalent of a 170" mule deer or a 150" whitetail. This was a tough hunt that ended on day three, after bedding him the evening of day two. I walked till my feet literally hurt, was hungry in the backcountry, and got rained on more than once. I found him though, the third morning, within fifty yards of where I left the night before, and sat on him for 3.5 hours till he changed his bedding site to one that availed me a clean shot. He died in his bed instantly. Based on his teeth I'd say he's between 5-6 years old - a mature buck.
