optics upgrade

been shooting at 300 yards with 24X Leupold and it is older scope and my eyes arent what they were,,Daddy has this old Sako 6mm PPC he never shoots with a brand new Leupold Competition 40x45 Target scope with 1/8th dot and 1/8th clix he let me borrow to try on the 600 yard F-Class targets,, which should be fun,,

I have to say off my bench at 300 yards it is just plain awesome to look through,,I cant wait to get some rounds down at the 600 yard line,,

I have several brands of scopes that are of German, Japanese and US origin. I have always been a Leupold fan until recently when I had to send a Leupold MKIV 3.5-10x40 back twice. Once due to the parallax adjustment going out and again due to the scope not being able to hold zero...After trying a box test, it failed miserably and would not return to zero after turning turrets.

After this experience and seeing what others can provide in the repeatability dept., I'll not purchase another Leupold for turning turrets.

I will let you know how it does,,I am actually looking at the 10-50x60 Sightron ,,I cant afford what I would like and will have to get by on what I can,,one reason I borrowed this scope before I bought one,,

there was actually an 8-32 NF NXS NPR2 I could have gotten and used but I have used it enough already to know how it is,,I wanted to see if I could use the 40x mag without losing my mind,,


I could tell this morning that I dont need to be laying on the ground prone with a near 20 pound rifle,,my neck and shoulder this morning felt like a car wreck,,

Have you ever used Nightforces Benchrest line of scopes? I don't know what features you are looking for, but they are a little easier on the billfold than the NXS series.

a friend of mine that shoots with us a little has a 12-42 BR with the DD reticle on a Savage 110 BA that would work for what I am doing with this rifle,,but when I actually buy one it will have to be capable of doing just about everything,
