Opinions on Stand placement

Its a small spot but I'm having a hard time figuring out where theyre coming. thinking about hugging that property line in the corner where the creek bed runs into the bigger creek. Seems like it would be a travel area?

Yellow:property line
Blue:Water sources
Grey: Dried up creek
Red: My stand next to a giant white oak
Greenish: Where I jumped 4 deer that ran into the neighbors field

I can't see any type of natural funnel within the property lines. If the white oak is dropping its probably gonna be a good spot. Best of luck wherever you decide to hunt.

That creek might act as a sort of funnel because I know they will walk creek side due to it generally being easier walking in a depressed area

Go NW on the yellow line from where yo jumped the deer and put a stand near where the two points of woods meet. Then, hunt the stand you have in place. It is in the right place if that is the only oak dropping.

Or..just hunt that place a coule times and you'll know where to put the stand. Caint nobuddy tell you from lookin at a pitcher.

I do have permission to recover from the other landowner. Hes a nice man... Just cant hunt his property

In very corner to SW of stand where woods narrow basically a narrow spot connecting bigger blocks, you can also look for a creek crossing funnel... It appears there is a depression to the East or maybe its thicker timber (cant tell) but may be some type of feature there to key on...

There is a cattle trail that runs along that property line. No big oaks but I was leaning toward that spot too. Seems like its the only cover if they want to travel through

I'd walk the creek and find were they cross it. I'll bet there is good sign were it splits into the dry creek too.

Well it looks like I'm sold on that SW corner. Although there aren't any acorns... which I will hunt first before I go to this area. There is a natural funnel there, a big trail that runs the fence line, tracks, and a pond I just noticed just across on the neighbors property that is hidden in the woods. Looks like a little paradise. Hopefully they don't tease me and stay on the other side of the fence!

If the trail is a deer trail, fine. If it is any other kind of trail, it is of no value. But it is my bet,if it is a deer trail, it goes along the fence so far before they either jump it or go under it, Find that spot and you have something to work with.

The pond might be good if it is really hot in the midday.

But...just go hunt the nuts and relax.

I would focus in the SW corner where your property line makes a right angle. I agree with BHC's comment.

Where the dry creek bed approaches the road - check to see if they are following that tree line on their way to cross the road. Do you have a spot with a shooting lane across the creek bed? Might find a spot that would work well to pop a deer sneaking down the dry creek bed or working his way along the field edge.

If it's thick along the creek bed, then they may be using it, it just may not be very huntable.
