I keep seeing these Youtube videos of these lightup nocks which looks pretty cool. I went to Academy while ago in Mt. Juliet and priced them anywhere from 10 - 25 dollars for only three or four.

Tried finding some reviews online but didn't find much. Didn't find any other posts on the forums here to see if this had been discussed already.

Anyone here use them? Worth the money?
 
I've used the lumenocks and really like them but I've quit using them because pope and young wont recognize a deer if you are using them, which makes no sense but that's the rule.

I've never killed anything big enough, but that would be my luck to kill the first P&Y buck of my life only to be disqualified by a light-up piece of plastic. :crazy:
 
I keep one in the quiver of the crossbow and my bow. I hut evenings a LOT, and I've loaded one up as light is failing just in case I might be in for some tracking and it makes a great blood-trail starting point marker.
 
I'm a Luminok guy. Well I will be. I've never killed anything with them, but they are on my arrows going out this season. I like the idea of being able to see my hit better and picked up a 3 pack for $15 on clearence in WI rignt before I moved down. Tested them at the range they should be nice.

I have used the cheaper ones but not the lumenocks. Makes it nice in low light conditions. I think you can make some yourself. One of the guys had a link on here using some type of light used in fishing floats.
 
I use lumenocks and like them a lot. With compound bows today shooting 275 to 325 fps, it's sometimes very difficult to see where your arrow hits the deer. Especially during prime hunting times with low light conditions. Seeing your shot placement with a lighted knock can be the difference in recovering a deer or bumping it into the next county never to be found.

The only downside is their cost. One 3-pack usually lasts me a season, since I only use them on my hunting arrows. I do keep the old ones for practice arrows because there is a slight weight difference compared to a regular knock.
 
I personally like them. I use Nockturnals because they are relatively inexpensive and they are relatively light, only 20gr. The reason I use them is because, as previously stated, they aid in identifying your shot and gives you instant feedback on how long should you take up the bloodtrail. P&Y doesn't allow them, and I think it is the dumbest rule out there, but I'm not out there hunting to put deer in the books.
 
my opinion is P&Y needs to get rid of that rule. I see no good reason for it. I have not used lighted nocks, mainly because that's another cost to add to an expensive hobby. I wouldn't mind using them, so I can find my arrow more easily and in low light. But I am fine without them too.
 
I love them. If for no other reason than arrow recovery. I shot a deer last year and the shot was a pass thru. However, the arrow deflected to the left when it cam out and went into a big bunch of honeysuckle. If I had not had the lighted nock, I probably wouldn't have found my arrow. Arrows cost too much to lose now days.
 
I'm looking to try. From what I have seen, the nocturnal are the brightest (green). I shoot Easton st excel which needs an "H" nock. All I can find at bass pro, academy, dicks, or Wally World are all "S" nocks, so they won't fit my arrows. I definitely want at least one for that simple reasons of recovering my arrow easier and following my shot in the waning light of the evening hunt.
 
I have bought several brands and made some myself, they are pretty handy to have, yes they are just another expense but I have found several arrows that in would have otherwise lost, and besides that its pretty cool seein that little red laser go blastin through a deer
 
I was shooting my bow this afternoon and thought of this thread when I had an arrow get away from me into the woods. Luckily I had my lighted nock on the arrow. It was an easy find half-way in the ground.
 
Buy some. It's the difference between finding an arrow at last light knowing you've hit or missed a deer.
 
I love the nocturnals. Great help in finding arrows at night, several times they have been an asset in finding the deer. I don't care about entering anything into P&Y, so that's not an issue.
