Opening weekend

Who alls gonna be in the woods Saturday? Not ideal weather, but looks like I'm actually gonna have the free time( figures crossed )for an all day sit. ( if I can stand it). Gonna hit up some public land…. Hopefully it's not slammed with people.

I am going to try to be. If the weather permits. I don't like bow hunting in the rain, due to blood trail loss.

Back in my younger years, my goal was to kill a doe on opening weekend of bow season. I did that 8 out of 10 years. Granted I wasn't intruding into spots, just in random fringes that didn't hurt anything. I don't see any harm in that.

Now I'm just too lazy to get out in the heat . I'll wait till mid-late October

I plan on it but they are calling for some really bad storms here in the Clarksville area from Hurricane Helene on Saturday. High winds (30-40 mph)and heavy rains (1"). May sit Saturday out and go when it is clear Sunday.

FYI my favorite week of archery season is first of November. The week between youth weekend and muzzleloader opener can be an awesome time to be in the woods. It's still archery only but leaves are colorful and falling and sometimes there is a cold front and it can be downright awesome.

I had plans on taking a 20 year old young man that wants to learn how to whitetail hunt. I've taken him scouting and have had him shooting my back up bow. I hope we can still make it out there b/c our schedules are tough to line up. A down pour and high winds may not be the best first time exposure.

Plus get some cameras out and cameras moved a bit.
