Although hot here in Clay county (65 - 70 at daylight), this has been the best bow opener I've seen. Have only hunted Saturday morning and this morning. Saw a 9 Pt and even larger 8 or 10, as well as two fours on opening morning. All were out of range (60 yards). My neighbor who hunts a small section of my land saw a spike and a small 3 pt. This morning I saw the same 9 pt, the larger buck, and a large 3 Pt on the same ridge line. Got a shot off on the larger deer, but at 35 yards from a 23 foot stand shooting downhill I ended up clean missing under it. It didn't seem too alarmed as it headed downhill. Gonna let that stand set for a week then try it again.

It was pretty slow for me. Did not see a deer Saturday and the only reason I went Sunday was the upcoming front gave me hope they would move a little. I was right and killed a doe at 630 Sunday morning and saw 2 small bucks between 830-930.

Killed this doe 730 opening morning nothing yesterday

And the movement continues. Jumped two on the way in and watched two spikes and a 3 pt in a food plot for 45 minutes. Had all three walk single file within 15 yards as they left the field. I decided I'd rather video tape them than send an arrow flying. Hoping the cold temps tonight will keep them moving tomorrow.

Nothing Saturday Morning. Couldn't hunt Sunday. Hunted AM and PM Monday and still nothing. two years ago season started this way and turned out ok. Last year it was great from word go. We'll see what happens from here, but still plenty of time left.

I had a lot of deer on cameras all summer. Swapped out camera cards on Labor Day and again on Saturday since I was out there hunting there was a huge drop off in activity on the card after Labor Day. I went hunting Saturday, Monday and today and have yet to even see a deer. This this the same place I took 3 from last year and I saw deer just about every day I went.

All I saw was a doe with fawns opening morning and I didn't talk to anyone else that had seen anything either. I was going this morning thinking the cooler temps would help movement but a plumbing problem arose. It's taken care of so I'll be there Wednesday morning. A side note is that we checked cameras and had a lot of deer movement right up until on the way to the stands opening morning. Lots of bucks and does split about 50/50 Am and PM. They didn't seem to mind the 90+ degree temps.
