recently ran across a deal on a Fox Model B-SE SxS 12 gauge. It is choked Mod & Full, but I was thinking about having it opened up a bit.

anybody ever have that done?...was wondering what the cost would be.
 
I had that done to a Fox double barrel I used to grouse hunt with years ago. Had the chokes changed to cylinder and improved cylinder. Don't remember the cost but a local gunsmith near Kingsport did it for me. Made a great grouse gun.
 
that is pretty much what i was thinking, Gramps...imp cyl/imp cyl or maybe skeet/skeet.....if it was real expensive i reckon you would have remembered how much it cost, huh? :)

i want to use it for doves

Well I have a 16 gauge Fox Model B-SE SxS that I used for Dove and quail hunting and I only opened up the Modified barrel to improved cylinder , the left full choke barrel I left alone. It worked for me cause with that set-up the guys accused me of shooting a 10 gauge at the high long range birds. The improved cylinder barrel was good on the close shots at dove where they were headed my way and the going away shots on the quail to. It cost less to fix 1 barrel also and if you do not like just the one barrel opened up and need both you still have that option after you try keeping that one barrel for those long shots. After trying my set up I never regretted keeping one barrel tight.

Thunderroost, I do not think it was very expensive then or I would not have had the job done. But, this was more than 30 years ago. Sometimes, I forget just how old I am.
