I waited most of the day for the heavy rain to stop and got to my lease at 2:30 to hunt a ground blind, arrived at the club house to find a lot more hunters there than anticipated.
All the stands I usually hunt were taken. I decided on a ladder stand in a pine thicket we had select cut last summer. In stand at 3:00 and at 3:30 i made a few short grunts with the grunt tube and at 3:40 I could see a deer face in some thick brairs at 40 yards. It takes a few steps and I see enough points to make it club legal and take a shot. Buck runs about 75 yds out of sight. I get down and check where the deer was standing when shot and no blood. I walked over to where I last seen there it laid.
