Opening Day 2014

Got up at 5 and just never got past stretchin and scratchin stage. May go this afternoon, may not. Just did not feel like climbin a tree and draggin one out.

I hear ya. Just wasn't in the mood to hunt in the heat with winds out of the east. First opening morning I've missed in 34 years

Planned to hunt this morning, but wife out of town and couldn't get someone to watch kids. Me and the kids might go sit in a box stand this afternoon.

I went this morning, very slow start. Had one doe walk in behind me, couldn't get a shot too thick. My friend had an 8 point stay about 60 years from him, for about an hour. My son seen one doe, to far away also.

Here at the house, wind is blowing strongly from both the east and the west and sometimes at the same time. Deer were moving here at about 10-see post "go figure" and picture. Good thing catman wasn't here.

I got a few more years before I will sit out an opening morning

May happen faster than you think Cat. I'm still young but I sat today out. First time I've voluntarily not hunted an opening day and I dont regret it at all. I got about 5 hours of bushhogging done and worked on a box stand and was hot and sweaty the whole time. At no point did I wish I was sweating in a deer stand.

Set out this morning also. I did go hang my climber for in the morning about 1 pm.

It was hot this evening and I said I wasn't going, but then I said you can't kill em on the couch

I sat up in bed and laid back.down after twenty minutes and by 6am I was getting pics from my trail cam

I sat out also. Went and pulledy first ever cards from trail cams. Got some nice bucks. I will wait till next weekend and get serious.
