So I managed to put in for the wrong "refuge" on the TN river. I thought I had applied for Yuchi muzzleloader or gun (usually takes 2 points think) but instead I am hunting the first muzzleloader hunt at Hiwassee a year earlier than I expected. I've never hunted it, and after a quick look at a map, it's painfully obvious that I will be seriously handicapped without a boat.

1) Are there any good places down that way to tent camp?

2) How bad crowded is it with non-boat hunters?

3) Any suggestions on general areas that won't be overrun by walk in guys like me? I plan to go poke around in a few weeks, but would like to narrow it down a little before I go. PMs preferred for any intel so it's not out there forever.

You wouldn't have drawn Yuchi with 2 points. Points creep from PI has caused points creep at Yuchi.

I live just a few miles from both, and have never hunted Hiwassee. I may check it out in the future, as I really like hunting from a boat and Yuchi is on the borderline of taking too long between hunts. I just really love the land at Yuchi

You'll need a boat unless you want to get walked in on. That's the only hunt I care to go on. I got the second muzzleloader again. Plenty places to camp.

A lot of good hunting there. A boat makes it nice except for when the fog is thick and that is just about every morning in the fall. Study the maps then do some foot work. I killed my best buck there and a ton of does.
