Has anyone every seen this show? Is it always bad?

I try my best not to watch hunting shows on TV, but when I turned the TV on today, that was the program on. At first they were hunting turkey (and had no problems with how the hunts were depicted), but once they switched to deer hunts, I was totally appalled. The two kills they showed HAD to be on penned bucks. If they were not penned, I'll eat my hat. One was a huge mature TX buck that was shot with a "magnum" MZ at 88 yards (supposedly) as the buck was standing under a feeder (and the hunter gut shot the buck--something he never mentioned--and you could clearly see the entrance wound just in front of the hip when the hunter walks up on his dead buck), and the other was a supposed "stalk hunt" up to a mature buck that clearly was wearing a red ear tag. And in that shot, the hunter's arrow doesn't penetrate the buck's shoulder more than 2 inches. I wonder how long that buck took to die? And of course, the bow hunter had to high five the camera-man while yelling "Smoked him!" and "I put the smack down on that dude!"

Tragic. Absolutely tragic. Is that really what hunting has come to?

I can't help but worry what people would think of deer hunting if that was their only exposure to it. If that's what the media is presenting, deer hunting is doomed.

Yea I don't even bother with the shows anymore. I think it is giving hunters a very false image.

His show has to struggle financially because he sells out to sponsors constantly plugging everything under the sun.

only watched it once and yes the time I watched it is was one of the worst shows I have ever seen. which is tough because so many are crappy.

Keith warren is bad also, he almost exclusively does high fence hunts, I honestly don't have a problem with most hunting shows and watch a lot of them as long as they are doing free range hunts but I don't have 30 minutes to spare for a fenced hunt

I agree 100%. While I believe most of all shows are some type of high fenced, or at least a huge tract of highly managed private property. I will watch hunting shows just to watch for entertainment and a good laugh at their crap. But Keith Warren is the worst. All of his shows are in high fenced Texas ranches. He pretty much promotes high fenced shooting and deer farming. He even has a deer farming show, can't think of the name.

Yep Old Neil is bad, as are many many more of these commercials about hunting products!

I've only seen a couple hunting show episodes in the past couple years, they just became so ridiculous. But big racks dying on film must be what the general public wants to see, as all those shows are based on ratings I would assume. The problem is, we've become so desensitized with the caliber of bucks killed on TV the past 5 years, that if the hosts don't take a 150" buck each episode, the show is a dud. And to kill a 150" buck every week, one just about HAS to hunt a high fence property or have a million connections with outfitters holding out a good buck for a kill on film.

As far as your comments about shot placement... it was just that bad a few years ago... I can't believe how many deer were spine shot (and obviously), and the host would comment about what a perfect heart shot they had just made. It's a rare episode when the host admits to having made a bad shot, then follows the deer for the rest of the episode, only to not recover the animal. Most of those bad shots are probably never shown on TV.

I haven't watched any of the shows enough to know the hunters or name of the show but what amazes me is how the bucks behave. They stand out in a food plot grazing like a angus bull while the hunter talks openly about them. These hunters take their time evaluating whether or not to shoot while the bull....err BUCK stands there drooling Imperial Clover until Bubba blasts him to the tune of some rock and roll song.

The bucks around my place are as nervous as Rodney Dangerfield during a tax audit and rarely stand even for a moment.
