I have planted a few in April and they all survived. It all depends on rain or if you can get out there and water them. You should probably try to get container plants though with these temperatures.
 
I am going to try and get my last 12 containers out this weekend of chinese chestnut. I bought these as bareroot last spring and potted them.

If container grown you can plant them year round.....if ball and burlap then be sure to continue to water them regularly till they are established. I wouldnt be afraid to plant them now myself. :)
