Don't forget bucks are running together. If you see one there is a good chance there is another close by. Last year on opening day I shot my first deer with a bow. He was an "average 8 point" and I was super exited about the kill. But on the other hand as soon as I let the arrow fly I caught movement to my left that was a deer much larger than the one I shot.

Thanks for the reminder... if I see this one average 8 pt that I am sure is older than 2.5, I'll shoot him straight away. Only hope a bigger one doesn't show up, cause a 3.5 or older deer on public land goes down as soon as it's in 20 yards!
