This is probably one of my favorite projects i've played with. It's been together for over a year. Got the police wood fore end to go on it but never did put it on. Well i finally got around to refinishing it and stuck it on last night. The police wood is a different wood then the express model stock so it took the stain different, kinda adds to the ambiance.
Named it the RTTHD870 (Retro Tactical Turkey Home Defense).

Works pretty good. When I pulled the barrel/mag clamp off to put on the for end some come off, probably from getting hot shooting skeet with it and just vibration rubbing between barrel and clamp. Stayed on the magazine tub fine though.
 
Did you spray it with a matte finish clear coat to help protect the paint?

I have a turkey gun I am thinking of putting a custom camo paint job on.....
 
no i didn't use any clear. scuffed with scotch brite pad, primed with a high temp primer, and sprayed with ulta flat krylon camo (same stuff that walmart stocks).
i have used clear on some but with mine figure i'll just do it again when gets beat up. less to strip if you don't clear it.
on pump shot guns i've found that chamfering the ends of the tube that the fore end grip mounts on will make the paint on the mag tube wear better(hard piece of metal like a screw driver works well). sucks when you first get it together and rack it to find there is a burr in that fore end tube scraping off your paint.

Thanks for the tip.... not sure, but I don't think I am going to paint the mag tube or slides just because there is rubbing in those areas when you work the action.....
