If the stock is original it is a late 60's or early 70's gun... (that is the second generation pattern stock for the 700 used at that time) Some of the best in my opinion... There should be a code on the barrel on the left side that you can cross reference to find the year and month of manufacture... Google Remington 700 manufacture dates and you will get the codes..

That's a first year, gen2 BDL made in 1969 and has all the updated features of the new generation, such as the long shroud, jeweled bolt, rounded safety level and ribboned checkering pattern. The date stamp of "RS" has a poorly struck "S" which would indicate a manufacturing date of November, 1969 which corresponds with the serial number.

So I was right? Gonna have to show this to my wife and prove I am right at times. 😂

Seriously though good thing you're doing Lade. If I had the funds to spare I'd buy it.
