What do yall know about this rifle?
Why does it have 2 triggers?
Is it worth anything?

not in great shape, but a really neat looking old rifle
got a ton of engraving on it and the bolt handle us unlike any i've ever seen. Wish I had pics, but he's not a fan of posting pics of his guns.

They were a very well built rifle back in their day, highly collectable in good to great condition, but rare.

Double trigger, I would assume one is a set trigger.

Value...............pending on condition and bore. Primo guns of this era and in mint shape are fetching 6-8k, in this caliber.

8x57S is the old .318 8mm Mauser, I believe. Next time you're at a gun shop, note how Sellier and Bellot 8mm is marked: 8x57JS.

The 1913 may well be a "best quality" sporting Comission rifle or one made "for the trade". Slug the bore before shooting.

I read most of it. Good info on there too. I'm thinking this one won't bring much in the shap it's in. That being said the bore actually looked pretty good. dusty, but no pitting that I could see, but i would need to clean it to be sure on that. Preciate the info. If any of you are interested I might be able to send some pics to your email. But again it's rough. PM if interested.

Nice old rifle.....would say the double triggers are definately "set" triggers kinda what you'd find on traditional muzzle loaders...not unusual. The 8x57 was a very popular and proven caliber in many old European sporting rifles. With the engraving and all, it was at one time probably some gentleman's prized huntin gun back in the motherland.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was an old war souvenir brought back by a veteran from one of the WW's.

Well my father in law sold that thing at the gun show here in knoxville. After looking into it it would have been worth about 1300-1500, but with the addition of the base,rings, and scope it cut the value to around $750. He sold it to a good friend for $550. Made four bills on the deal. But dang it I never got to shoot it. lol
