Snuck in right behind me. Started to rain about 7:30am, so I stood up to put my tree umbrella up. Laid my bow down, got it out of the bag, Screwed in the Stud, popped the umbrella up... and he bounded off from 15ft behind me. I never saw him despite looking directly at him. He stopped and looked from from 20yds as I sat the umbrella in the stud, picked my bow up, drew, fought the strings from the umbrella, and sent one his way. Guess a blind squirrel does find a nut! Few free days to hunt for me this year, I'm happy with this dude!

Congrats on the buck. I've been in the stand since 0535 and haven't seen a single deer. Lots of rain though.

ThTs awesome! Some are just gonna get an arrow no matter what happens! I agree I'm glad it worked out for you!

Nice!!! I had a similar experience with my best buck. I got cold and started to get ready to climb down. Had my quiver hooked back on bow and the string attached ready to lower it down when he suddenly appeared in the tree line. I got the string off and an arrow nocked just as he entered shooting land at 10 yards!

Congratulations dude!

It's funny how these things go. Been hunting my whole life and my two best bucks have been in situations you wouldn't expect to get a kill.

1, I was 11 and had just killed a doe sitting in a stand with my dad. Walked down the trail to my grandfathers stand to sit the rest of the morning with him. He was just talking away about the doe I'd killed and out walks a big 19" wide 8 pt with no browtines 10 yards from my stand.

2, I shot a doe opening day of rifle about 6:30 and she dropped in her tracks in the middle of a cut corn field. White belly justa shinin to warn off anything else from coming my way. I decide to go drag her back under the stand and get back in. As I'm climbing back up the ladder to my box, I see him hauling tail from the far side of the field towards the spot she dropped, mouth hanging wide open. I scrambled back into the stand and grabbed got him in the scope. He must have spooked smelling death and turned back towards the treeline. He stopped to check up at 245 yards and thankfully my .270 was dead on.

Needless to say, when I kill a doe early, I don't usually like to call it a day [emoji6]
