About midday today I got on the 4 wheeler to scout around the Empire after the snowfall for tracks and etc. Carried the Nylon 66 along for whatever and waited on one of my calling stands sunning in the 25 deg temps and lo and behold I see a coyote jogging across the pasture at about 175 yards. I waited till it got a little closer as it was slightly quartering across my field of view and barked at it. It stopped just like they are supposed to and I debated on whether or not to shoot with the .22lr. Anyway I figured with the mag full I could lay down some fire with the semiauto. I put on a bunch of Kentucky elevation and let her go. At the shot the coyote jerked, jumped and spun around running back the way it had come. I followed along and it turned directly away and I fired off 3 more rounds I think. And lo and behold it slipped, skidded and fell over!!! I retrieved it following its last 70 yds of death run with just a couple of drops of blood visible in the snow here and there. I drug it back to a clear patch and made some pix. The bullet had EXITED the off side in the high rear chest-below spine in front of diaphram. The pix I made at home looking at the off side shows the blood but the exit hole was only 22 cal size. OK here is the unbelievable part. The coyote was 160 YARDS+ away when I hit it with my first shot right through the chest-holy moly. Iron sights, off hand, Kentuck elev, 160+ yards, and complete penetration. See I told you that you wouldn't believe it; but it is as true as I can tell it. I will laser the exact distance in the future but as this is one of my regular stands I have a bunch of landmarks lasered already. Being good is nice but being lucky trumps being good everytime-it just ain't as reliable. PH
