I always have regular earth worms all over when I get a lot of water. Now, for the first time, my yard is covered up with genuine
night crawlers like you pay big money for if you want to try and catch trout type fish or for that matter smallmouth on Center Hill using a 1/16-ounce jig up real tight on the bank in the spring when they move yup the smallmouth that is and you don't care to punctuate.

Wunner where from they come dem woims???
 
lots of full sized European nightcrawlers along the river down here, you probably have those. They get almost as big as Canadian nightcrawlers but can obviously live in warmer climates.... do yourself a favor and pick em all up, best bait around... I remember one time last year I caught some fresh ones, put one on a hook, sight casted to a feeding buffalo and caught it. That was a thrill since those buffs are picky eaters.

Throw a few worms my way too.... my pet bluegill has been hungry lately...
 
I can't stand to fish with Canadian night crawlers. They smell like LaBatts. The European ones are hard to put a hook in. They are in constant retreat.

I believe these are all cajun crawlers, they ate all the crawperch in the bayou behind the house.
 
I can't help but seeing Bowriter asking the Monty Python bridge guardian "Is that a Canadian crawler, or a European crawler?" "I don't know...AAAHHHHH!"
 
You can tell the European nightcrawlers from the Canadian nightcrawlers because the European ones have hairy armpits.
