This buck is one of my top targets and has been coming to this plot for days. He won't score much, but he is a 5 1/2 year old and I would love to kill him on video. Well, I finally get the perfect NE wind I need, so I go in there to hunt him and he comes in from a different angle, just out of range.

I just love a formidable opponent!

Love hunting deer like that. LOVE IT. Smart, tough, and every once in awhile...schwaaack (or booooom).

He gone. :)

Won't score much? Just because he's not the biggest buck killed in the state doesn't mean he don't have a big rack. How big do they have to be to impress???

Thanks guys. Looks like we might get another NE wind Friday morning. If so, I'll give it another try.

Sorry, didn't mean to rub anyone the wrong way with that comment. Yes, he impresses me. But it's really more about his age and the history that I have with him than his score. There are some younger deer on this farm that will outscore him, but I love hunting an old deer. He's fairly wide, but with his short brows, I figured he would be lucky to hit 125". I've got pictures of this guy for the last 3 years and passed him twice last year. I ain't passing him this year.

I fully understand where you're coming from, and seem to think similarly.

Hope you get great video footage when you take him this year. :)

I like how the little guy isn't even scared. In that first picture is that little guy really trying to square off with him.

A trophy any way you look at it. Good luck getting him especially with a bow and I think he will make gross P&Y.
