Looking around for guns for my sons. I came across a model 70 in 243 wssm. What kind of deer rifle will this make???

It is fine for deer. Finding ammo for it is the problem. If you don't hand load and have a good supply of brass you won't be shooting it much.

Little faster, shoots the same bullet from what I've heard. If I was going to a WSSM, I would go with the 25, simply because you can get a little bit bigger bullet in the selection. (up to 120 gr vs 100gr if I remember correctly)

Another suggestion, look at the new marlin XL7S in 7mm-08. I bought one for my wife, and I am VERY impressed. Marlin is owned by Remington. It looks like a 700 with an accutrigger.

Reeds ammo and research sells a bunch of different loads for it. Its a awesome round i just sold mine. 3 in the same hole at a hundred out of a sled off a bench

Looks like a 22-250. The fat case is to allow for more efficient powder burn or so I have read. There is a write-up in my Lyman manual about them. They say good things about all the wssm rounds.
